Effects of Programming on Stress - EEG Brain Wave Research

Individuals agreed to use Theracoustic's Stress Relief™ program for no less than 30 days. The graph below shows one person's progression of increased response to the half-hour sessions over the 30-day period. The restorative state is the one in which the individual lowers into a meditative or sleep state which have been proven to reduce stress, anxiety and other stressors. The top two lines at the start of each graph represent alpha and beta brain waves; the bottom track theta and delta.

This research study conducted by the National Institute for Holistic Addiction Studies further demonstrated the increased efficacy of multiple Theracoustic sessions powered by Prescription Audio™.

As shown in Figure 1 below, the EEGs demonstrate the difference between Day 1/session 1 and Day 30/session 30. The 40-minute sessions depict a 10-minute baseline period followed by 30 minutes of therapies. The green and yellow lines represent the Alpha and Beta waves, while the purple and pink are delta and theta waves. Where the green/yellow lines become close to or cross the purple/pink lines is where the subject went into a meditative or sleep state.

In this study the meditative/sleep state period almost triples between Day 1 and Day 30.

Figure 2 shows the decrease in anxiety symptoms after each session and the continual lowering of baseline symptoms prior to each subsequent session. The study was conducted in early 2010 and covered 54 individuals in active addiction treatment.

Brainwave Patterns and Their Effects on the Brain and Body

Beta
14 - 100 Hz

Normal waking state, alertness, cognitive thinking, analysis, arousal, agitation/anxiety (higher levels), action, flight or fight response (higher levels)

Alpha
8 - 13.9 Hz

Relaxed waking state, relaxed focus, creative problem solving (non-analysis), super learning, pre-awake or pre-sleep drowsiness (lower levels), access to sub-conscious mind, spiritual awareness

Theta
4 - 7.9 Hz

Dream or REM sleep, creative flow, deep meditation, access to unconscious mind, profound spiritual awareness

Delta
0.1 - 3.9 Hz

Deep dreamless sleep, loss of body awareness
